The True Meaning of Insanity

One of my favorite quotes is by Albert Einstein: “The true meaning of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.”

I can’t think of any better assessment for my political race for Texas House than Einstein’s quote.

I read forums, Twitter, and Facebook everyday and the litany is the same–a horrible groundswell of dissatisfaction with elected officials. There’s an outcry against individuals who spend too much of our money, who accept money from organizations that go against the ideals they supposedly represent, who say one thing in public and do another thing in private. Everyone is justifiably angry.

Yet, ironically, when those same outraged individuals stand before a voting machine, they vote the same type of people into office to commit the same type of “wrongs”, time after time after time. We have only ourselves to blame for this mess.

Many employ the “express lane” way of voting–quicker, faster, “get in, get out”, using a  straight ticket or just voting “R” or “D”. Others rely on those same “sound bytes”–easy to remember, but little in the way of substance and thought.

I’m urging every voter in District 84 to think, really think, about the individual candidates, look at their history, examine their contributions on the Texas Ethics Commission website, look at their issues and what they have to say about them.

This is so important. You can continue to elect ineffectual and disingenuous individuals to represent you and then you can expect to be posting angry frustrated comments six months from now. It will be an “instant replay” of what you have now.

Do something different in November and I promise that you will experience a VERY different result.
